MT AIRY DWARF FOTHERGILLA
Fothergilla gardenii 'Mount Airy' is commonly referred to as Mount Airy Fothergilla. It is a hybrid with a vigorous, upright habit that features white, honey-scented, bottlebrush-like flowers that appear in April and May before foliage emerges. Attractive leathery, ovate leaves are dark green with a blueish gray underside. Leaves have a showy display in fall in hues of yellow, orange and red.
Mount Airy Fothergilla is a cross between F. gardenii and F. major. It enjoys full sun to part shade in acidic, organically rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It has good shade tolerance and is ideal for foundation, border or hedge plantings. Perfect companion to Rhododendrons.
