Dianthus Whetman® 'Spangled Star' PP13,029 is a hybrid Dianthus that is part of the WHETMAN® Star Single® series that has been bred by Whetman® Pinks, the UK's leading breeder and propagator of award-winning perfumed Dianthus known for their excellent Dianthus breeding. It features fragrant maroon red petals with pale pink serrated edges, throats, and blotches. Similar to Dianthus 'Spottii'. Flowers bloom in summer and can bloom again in early fall with regular deadheading. Blooms attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. It is a compact grower with mounding grey-green foliage.
Spangled Star® Dianthus is easy to grow and thrives in full sun to partial shade in neutral to slightly alkaline, well-draining soils. It is ideal for rock gardens, edging, borders and containers.
