SUGAR SHACK® BUTTONBUSH

Cephalanthus occidentalis Sugar Shack® (commonly known as Sugar Shack® Buttonbush) is a striking, compact native root, deciduous shrub that reinvents a traditionally oversized wetland plant into a manageable, multi-season landscape favorite. It features lush, glossy green summer foliage that transitions to rich fall colors, complemented in mid-summer by whimsical, fragrant globe-shaped white flowers that resemble creamy pincushions. These unique blooms serve as a wonderful nectar source for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, eventually maturing into attractive spherical red fruit and seedheads that provide extended ornamental interest and food for local birds well into the cooler months.

For optimal performance, plant Sugar Shack® in a spot that receives full sun to part sun, and take advantage of its unique ability to thrive in consistently moist, wet, or boggy soils where other shrubs typically fail, making it an ultimate solution for rain gardens, pond edges, or low-lying drainage areas.
