DARKEST NIGHT™ BUTTERFLY BUSH

If you're looking to add a bit of moody, sophisticated drama to your garden, Buddleia Darkest Night™ is arguably the heavyweight champion of the butterfly bush world. Darkest Night™ is celebrated for its incredibly deep, velvety purple flower spikes that appear from mid-summer through the first frost. Unlike some leggy varieties, Darkest Night™ maintains a relatively tidy, arching habit with silvery-green foliage that makes those midnight-hued blossoms pop. It is essentially a high-end buffet for pollinators, acting as a magnet for monarch butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds who find its honey-scented fragrance irresistible.

Darkest Night™ Butterfly Bush thrives in full sun where it can soak up at least six to eight hours of direct light daily. It isn't particularly picky about soil types, but it demands excellent drainage; it will not tolerate "wet feet," which can lead to root rot. The ideal spot is toward the back of a perennial border or as a focal point in a pollinator garden where it has room to reach its 4-to-5-foot height.
