CAMPFIRE SHRUB ROSE

Rosa 'Campfire' is an exceptional and hardy shrub rose celebrated for its ever-changing tri-color display; the buds open in a soft yellow, transitioning to a creamy white with a distinct cherry-pink edge that eventually spreads to cover the entire bloom. Because the plant produces clusters of flowers at different stages of maturity simultaneously, a single shrub often showcases a vibrant, multicolored effect reminiscent of flickering flames. The foliage is a glossy, deep green with excellent resistance to common issues like black spot and powdery mildew.

The ideal spot for Rosa 'Campfire' is a location with full sun to ensure the most intense color development and a prolific bloom cycle from late spring until the first hard frost. It is notably tough and was bred to withstand cold climates, making it a reliable choice for northern landscapes, though it performs beautifully in various regions. It thrives in well-drained, fertile soil enriched with organic matter. Due to its mounding, slightly spreading habit, it works perfectly as a low hedge, a mass planting, or a focal point in a mixed perennial border. For the best results, maintain consistent moisture at the root zone and provide a balanced rose fertilizer in early spring as new growth begins.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in a location with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Ensure soil is well-draining. Water at the base (avoid getting leaves wet) to prevent fungal diseases. Prune in early spring. These are 'low-maintenance' roses. You can prune individually to shape, or, for large-scale mass plantings, you can use power shears to trim them back by one-third to encourage a flush of new, vigorous growth and continuous blooms.
