Zone: 5BLACK ADDER HYSSOP
Agastache 'Black Adder' is commonly referred to as Black Adder Hyssop or Black Adder Hummingbird Mint. It is a hybrid cross between Agastache rugosum and Agastache foeniculum in the mint family. This hardy, herbaceous perennial features an upright, clump-forming habit with dark purple buds that open to red-violet bottlebrush, terminal spiked flowers. Flowers bloom from midsummer to fall and attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden. Deadhead to prolong blooming. Foliage is grayish-green with a anise/licorice scent.
Black Adder Hyssop thrives in full sun in average, very well-drained soils. It can be drought tolerant once established. It is an ideal perennial as a vertical accent that brings bold, late season color.
