PRETTY IN PINK BETHLEHEM SAGE -
24-30 Inches Tall 15-18 Inches Wide--
Pulmonaria 'Pretty in Pink' PP31284 is a vibrant and high-performing perennial celebrated for its large, bright rose-pink flowers that appear in early spring, standing out boldly against many other lungworts that lean toward blue or purple tones. Its foliage is equally ornamental, featuring wide, dark green leaves heavily speckled with silver spots. As 'Pretty in Pink' matures after its bloom cycle, the silver-flecked leaves expand to form a dense, weed-suppressing mound providing a bright, metallic texture to the garden floor well into the autumn months.
For its ideal spot, 'Pretty in Pink' should be situated in partial to full shade, as it is particularly sensitive to the hot afternoon sun which can cause the foliage to wilt or scorch. It thrives in rich, consistently moist, and well-drained soil, making it a perfect companion for other shade-loving plants like hostas or ferns. It is notably resistant to powdery mildew, a common issue for older lungwort selections, and its fuzzy leaves are generally avoided by deer and rabbits. Maintenance is simple; just remove the flower stalks once the blooms fade and trim away any old or tattered leaves in early spring to make room for the fresh, silver-spotted new growth.
