Sedum kamtschaticum, commonly known as Russian Stonecrop or Orange Stonecrop, is a dependable and vigorous sedum groundcover that brings consistent texture and color to the garden. It forms a dense, low-growing mat of succulent, spatulate leaves with distinctive toothed edges. Throughout the spring and summer, the foliage remains a rich, glossy green, providing a lush backdrop for other perennials. In early to mid-summer, it is nearly covered in flat-topped clusters of star-shaped, bright yellow flowers. As the blooms age, they transition into attractive orange-bronze seed pods, while the foliage often takes on deep reddish-bronze tones in the autumn, extending its visual interest well into the cooling months.
For the best garden performance, plant Orange Stonecrop in a location that receives full sun to partial shade, though the most prolific flowering and tightest growth habit occur in brighter light.
