COLOR SPIRES® VIOLET RIOT GARDEN SAGE -
18-24 Inches Tall 18-24 Inches Wide--
Salvia Color Spires® 'Violet Riot' is a standout selection in the Proven Winners® Color Spires® series known for its exceptionally dense, upright habit and vivid violet-purple flower spikes. Reaching a mature height of approximately 18 to 24 inches, it is celebrated for its improved branching and high flower-to-foliage ratio. The deep, saturated color of the blooms creates a striking contrast against its aromatic, green foliage, providing a long-lasting and intense display from late spring through early summer. Its sturdy stems and uniform shape make it an excellent choice for mid-border plantings, mass groupings, or as a vibrant focal point in pollinator-friendly landscapes.
To ensure 'Violet Riot' thrives and maintains its tidy form, it should be planted in a location that receives full sun and features well-drained soil. While 'Violet Riot' is notably heat-tolerant and can handle drier conditions once established, providing regular moisture during the first growing season is essential for developing a deep root system. To encourage a second flush of violet-purple blooms in late summer or early autumn, it is highly recommended to shear the spent flower spikes back to the basal foliage after the initial flowering period. In early spring, simply remove any dead stems to make way for fresh, new growth.
