PINK PONY™ ELDERBERRY -

Sambucus nigra Pink Pony™ is a sophisticated and relatively new elderberry cultivar that provides a dramatic, dark aesthetic for the landscape. It is most notable for its deep, bluish-black foliage that resembles black licorice, providing a stark and elegant contrast to its long-lasting clusters of vivid pink flowers. Unlike older elderberry varieties that can become leggy and unruly, Pink Pony™ maintains a more refined, lush habit with dense branching and leaves that grow closer together. In early summer, it is covered in fragrant pink blooms that resist fading, eventually giving way to dark burgundy-black berries in the fall if a different Sambucus nigra variety is planted nearby for cross-pollination such as Black Beauty®, Instant Karma® or Laced Up®.
To maintain the best foliage color and ensure a heavy bloom set, Pink Pony™ Elderberry should be planted in full sun, though it is adaptable enough to handle part shade. It makes an excellent choice for a specimen plant, a privacy screen, or an informal hedge.
