Taxodium distichum 'Falling Waters' is a striking, weeping cultivar of the native Bald Cypress, prized for its elegant, pendulous branches that cascade toward the ground like a waterfall. This deciduous conifer offers a rare combination of feathery, needle-like foliage and a seasonal color change; the soft, sage-green needles of spring and summer turn rich cinnamon-bronze or coppery-orange in autumn before dropping. While it can reach a height of 15 feet, its ultimate stature is often determined by how high the central leader is staked during its youth.
'Falling Waters' Bald Cypress is exceptionally adaptable and hardy across Zones 5 through 11 and performs best in full sun. True to its swamp-dwelling heritage, it thrives in moist to wet soils and can even tolerate standing water, making it an ideal choice for rain gardens or pond edges.
