CARADONNA MEADOW SAGE -
24-30 Inches Tall 24-30 Inches Wide--
Salvia nemorosa 'Caradonna' is widely recognized for its unique, architectural silhouette and intense color contrast. It produces numerous slim, upright spikes of deep violet-purple flowers that are uniquely set against striking, glowing purple-black stems. Its aromatic foliage is a rich grayish-green, forming a sturdy, mounded clump that provides a solid base for the vertical flower spikes. As a long-blooming early summer favorite, it acts as a magnet for pollinators, drawing in bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds with its reliable nectar supply.
Salvia 'Caradonna' enjoys a location in full sun with well-draining soil, as it thrives in at least six hours of direct light and prefers ground that doesn't remain overly wet. Once the initial massive flush of flowers begins to fade, a quick shearing of the spent spikes will encourage the plant to produce a second round of blooms in late summer. It is exceptionally hardy, drought-tolerant once established, and naturally resistant to deer, making it a dependable, low-maintenance choice for adding deep, elegant color to the landscape.
