Scabiosa 'Vivid Violet' is a high-performance, mid-sized perennial prized for its exceptionally intense flower color and robust growth habit. It produces large, 2-inch wide pincushion flowers in a rich, velvety shade of deep violet-purple. Reaching a mature height of 12 - 15 inches with a similar spread, it forms a tidy, mounded tuft of deeply lobed, bright green foliage. Its striking blooms are held on sturdy, wiry stems and provide a continuous display of vivid color from late spring all the way through the first frost, serving as a high-impact nectar source for butterflies and bees.
To ensure Scabiosa 'Vivid Violet' remains a standout performer, it should be planted in a location that receives full sun and has excellent soil drainage. Like many pincushion flowers, it is particularly sensitive to "wet feet" during the winter months, so well-drained soil is essential for its long-term health.
