CAESARS BROTHER SIBERIAN IRIS -
36-42 Inches Tall 18-24 Inches Wide--
Caesars Brother Siberian Iris (Iris sibirica 'Caesar's Brother') is a classic, award-winning herbaceous perennial highly valued for its intense, rich color and easy care. It is a stunning, clump-forming plant that features elegant, beardless flowers in a velvety, deep purple, sometimes described as pansy-violet, which rise 3 to 4 feet above the foliage in late spring to early summer. The flowers display a small flash of yellow and white at the base of the falls (lower petals) and are excellent for cutting. Its fine, grassy, blue-green foliage provides excellent textural contrast and remains attractive throughout the season. This is a very hardy and robust plant that resists deer and rabbits and is one of the few species tolerant of wet or even boggy conditions.
'Caesar's Brother' thrives in full sun to part shade in moist, fertile, and well-drained soil, though it is one of the most adaptable irises, tolerating clay and even wet spots where other irises may rot. Ensure the rhizomes are covered with 1 to 2 inches of soil when planting. It requires consistent moisture, especially during the spring bloom period, but is somewhat drought-tolerant once established. Caesar's Brother is low-maintenance, requiring only the removal of spent flower stalks and a cut-back of the foliage in late fall. To maintain vigor and prolific blooming, divide the dense clumps every four to five years in late summer.
