TOLLEYMORE NORWAY SPRUCE -
12 Feet Tall 8 Feet Wide--
Picea abies 'Clanbrassiliana Stricta', commonly known as 'Tolleymore' Norway Spruce, is a sophisticated, slow-growing cultivar of the Norway Spruce that bridges the gap between a shrub and a small tree. It is defined by its dense, multi-stemmed habit and a distinctively broadly conical or "beehive" shape. Its needles are short, stiff, emerald green, closely packed along the branches to create a very full, opaque appearance. While it shares the "Clanbrassiliana" name with a more rounded, bun-shaped relative, the 'Stricta' designation refers to its more upright, vertical inclination, giving it a structured look that remains tidy and symmetrical without any intervention.
Tolleymore Norway Spruce is exceptionally hardy and resilient, thriving best in full sun and well-drained, slightly acidic soil. It is quite adaptable to various soil types, including heavier clays, provided they don't remain waterlogged. Once established, it is quite wind-resistant and handles cold northern winters with ease.
Tolleymore's slow growth and architectural form make it ideal for stately foundation plantings, formal gardens, or as a vertical element in a large rock garden. Because it maintains its shape perfectly, it is a favorite for gardeners who want the look of a groomed evergreen without the hassle of constant shearing.
