VIBURNUM RHY ALLEGHANY
Grower Notes:
Viburnum x rhytidophylloides 'Alleghany' is commonly referred to as Allegheny Viburnum. It was introduced in 1966 by the National Arboretum resulting from a cross between Viburnum rhytidophyllum and Viburnum lantana 'Mohican'. It is an upright, very dense, semi-evergreen shrub with leathery, deep green leaves and fragrant white flower clusters in spring followed by attractive red berries that mature to black.
Alleghany Viburnum is easy to grow and requires little maintenance to lead a long, healthy life. It thrives in full to partial sun in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Ideal as an accent, in shrub borders or as a hedge.
