Zone: 4BIRCHLEAF SPIREA
Spiraea betulifolia 'Tor' is commonly referred to as Tor Spirea or Birchleaf Spirea. It is a deciduous shrub with a compact habit. It features clusters of small white flowers that cover its green, birch-like leaves and attract butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. In fall, the leaves turn a very showy orange, red and purple.
Birchleaf Spirea is low maintenance and deer resistant. It thrives in full sun in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is ideal in borders, foundation plantings, and rock gardens.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in full sun to partial shade, as full sun is preferred for best flowering and foliage color, in well-draining soil. Water regularly until established; once mature, this variety is relatively drought-tolerant. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize annually with a balanced fertilizer in early spring. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote new growth; deadheading spent flowers after the first flush can encourage a second round of blooms.
