QUERCUS PALUSTRIS
Grower Notes:

Commonly referred to as the Pin Oak, this medium sized oak has a broad pyramidal crown. The upper branches ascend, however the middle and lower branches descend. The lower branches break off due to shading by other trees leaving pin-like stubs, hence the common name.

Smooth gray-brown bark develops ridging with age. This oak typically occurs in valleys, floodplains and stream margins.

Leaves turn a deep red in fall and linger through winter. It is a popular street and landscape tree due to its rapid growth and adaptability. Thrives in rich, acid, well-drained soil. One of the fastest growing oaks.
