Picea abies 'Pumila' is commonly referred to as Dwarf Black Norway Spruce or Dark Dwarf Norway Spruce. It is a very old dwarf cultivar, dating back to the late 1800s. It features a flattened globose, spreading habit with dense, slightly ascending branches with dark green needles. It is ideal for rock gardens, borders, and foundation plantings. It enjoys full sun in average to evenly moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils.
