Picea abies 'Fat Cat' is commonly referred to as the Fat Cat Norway Spruce. It is a dense, rounded, dwarf form of Norway Spruce with very short, stiff needles on short shoots. This slow-growing spruce get its name from its shape - resembling a cat curled up into a ball taking a nap. It stays small - at 10 years it will only reach approximately 4-5 feet tall.
This Fat Cat is easy to care for and enjoys full to part sun in average to evenly moist, well-drained soils. It will not tolerate standing water. It tolerates environmental salt and can thrive in city environments.
