PARTHENOCISSUS TRICUSPIDATA
Grower Notes:

Parthenocissum tricuspidata is commonly referred to as Boston Ivy. It is a fast-growing, deciduous, tendril climbing vine with purple new small leaves that mature to green before turning brilliant reddish purple in fall. They are semi-evergreen in warmer climates. It does not need support because it clings to surfaces by adhesive holdfasts located at the tendril ends. Ornamentally insignificant greenish white flowers appear in late spring but are usually hidden. Flowers give way to dark blue berries that are also hidden by foliage. They do provide beneficial food for birds.

Boston Ivy thrives in full to partial sun and can even tolerate full shade. Best fall color occurs in full sun. It thrives in rich, fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It should be in an area where it can expand and grow and is ideal for walls, arbors, fences and trellises. It also works well for erosion control on slopes.
