RED MAGIC PEONY

Paeonia 'Red Magic' is a spectacular herbaceous double peony known for its massive, bomb-style blooms in a deep, cranberry-red. The flowers are incredibly dense, featuring a ruffled center of smaller petals surrounded by larger guard petals, often reaching 6 to 8 inches in diameter. Unlike some other dark reds, 'Red Magic' has a distinct brilliance to its color that doesn't fade easily, and it is particularly noted for its rich, spicy fragrance, which is stronger than many other red varieties.

Standing about 24 to 30 inches tall, 'Red Magic' produces a lush mound of glossy, dark green foliage that remains attractive throughout the summer. While the stems are relatively strong, the sheer weight and petal density of the "bomb" blooms, especially when wet, mean that staking or peony hoops are highly recommended to prevent the flowers from bowing to the ground. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it a dependable, high-impact choice for both garden borders and dramatic floral arrangements.
