KALLAY PFITZER JUNIPER

Juniperus chinensis pfitzeriana 'Kallay's Compact' is commonly referred to as Kallay's Compact Juniper. It is a dwarf, compact, flat-topped evergreen shrub with arching, dark green scale-like needles that are soft to the touch and are more wide than tall. Its foliage is attractive year round and fragrant when crushed. Pollinated female plants produce fleshy seed cones (bluish-white berries).

Kallay's Compact Juniper thrives in full sun in average, sandy, well-drained soils. It does not tolerate standing water. It can be drought tolerant once established. It is ideal for rock gardens and foundation plantings.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
