Ilex x aquipernyi 'Meschick' PP4996 is commonly referred to as Dragon Lady® Holly or Aquipern Holly. It was hybridized by Kathleen Meserve (Ilex x aquipernyi and Ilex pernyi) and noteworthy for not needing a pollinator for its bright red fruit! It is considered a northern Holly as it does not tolerate heat well. It should get afternoon shade in southern climates.
Dragon Lady® is pest and deer resistant and tolerant of most soils. It thrives in filtered sun in organic, acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soils.
