HYDRANGEA QUE PEE WEE
Grower Notes:
Hydrangea quercifolia 'Pee Wee' is commonly referred to as Pee Wee Oakleaf Hydrangea. This native dwarf oakleaf hydrangea features upright panicles of showy white flowers in June that fade to pink. This is a small cultivar, only reaching 2-3 feet tall and wide. Its oak-shaped leaves are also smaller, but still very showy. Leaves mature to a vibrant crimson red in fall.
Pee Wee Hydrangea thrives in filtered light in rich, organic, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Like other Oakleaf Hydrangeas, it needs to be pruned immediately after flowering as the flower buds are produced on second year wood. It benefits from being planted in a sheltered area. It is ideal along a woodland border or as an accent plant for smaller spaces.
