COTONEASTER APICULATUS
Grower Notes:
Cotoneaster apiculatus is commonly referred to as Cranberry Cotoneaster or just simply Cotoneaster. It is a deciduous shrub with stiff, arching branches. It is an effective groundcover as branches root where they touch the ground. It is ideal for bank plantings, cascading over walls or shrub borders. Cotoneaster features small pink flowers in late spring that fade to bright red, cranberry-like berries (pomes) that add nice color to the fall landscape. Rounded, glossy green leaves turn vivid shades of purple, red and dark yellow in fall.
Cranberry Cotoneaster enjoys full to part sun in average, medium, well-drained soils. It is a great plant for erosion control.
