Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Well's Special' is commonly referred to as Well's Special Hinoki Falsecypress. It is a tall, narrow upright evergreen conifer with deep green scale-like, flattened sprays of foliage and shaggy dark red bark.
This low maintenance evergreen enjoys full to partial sun in rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It has a low canopy with typical clearance of 1 foot from ground and suitable for under power lines. It is tolerant of urban pollution and will do well in city environments.
