Azalea x 'Girard's Hot Shot' is commonly referred to as Girard's Hot Shot Azalea. It is part of the Girard collection of Azaleas specially developed for cold hardiness and increased performance. It is a rounded, compact, semi-evergreen ornamental shrub with large deep fiery scarlet-orange flowers in mid to late spring. All the pollinators love the Hot Shot including hummingbirds, bees, butterflies. This variety is also very well suited for Japanese Bonsai enthusiasts. Leaves become dark yellow-green in winter.
Girard's Hot Shot Azalea thrives in rich, acidic, humusy, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It stops you in your tracks whether along the border or in a mass planting.
