Astrantia major 'Star of Fire' PP20,284 is commonly referred to as Star of Fire Masterwort or Hattie's Pincushion Plant. This classic perennial has been around since the 16th Century! It features wine red blooms with white centers surrounded by dark purple bracts. Flowers attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. It is prized for its drying ability and are ideal in dried floral arrangements. Bracts remain attractive after flowers fade and can be cut back for new growth and to prevent self-seeding.
Star of Fire Masterwort thrives in full to partial sun in rich, fertile, evenly moist, well-draining soil. It is ideal for sunny, woodland perennial borders or as a cut flower for dried flower arrangements.
