Zone: 4VISIONS FALSE SPIREA
Astilbe chinensis 'Visions' PPAF is commonly referred to as Visions Chinese Astilbe or Visions False Spirea. This herbaceous, clump-forming, late-blooming Astilbe features fern-like mounds of bronze-green foliage and fragrant, raspberry pink flower plumes on 12-15" tall stems in midsummer. Foliage stays attractive through the growing season and flowers bring in bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators.
Visions Chinese Astilbe thrives in partial to full shade in organically rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Visions has a smaller stature than other Astilbe and is perfect for containers or clustered at the front of beds in dappled sun or shade.
Companion plants for Astilbe include: Rhododendron, Hosta, Ferns, Heuchera, Ligularia and Japanese and Siberian Iris.

To help Astilbe chinensis types settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in moist, rich soil with a slightly acidic pH. While it prefers dappled shade, Astilbe chinensis is more heat and sun tolerant than other varieties and will perform well in brighter spots if moisture is consistently maintained. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
