KOTO MARU DWARF JAPANESE MAPLE

Acer palmatum 'Koto maru' is commonly referred to as Koto maru Dwarf Japanese Maple. This fast-growing witches' broom Japanese Maple features a tight, more compact habit and spectacular foliage colors throughout its growing season! In spring, the rounded leaves emerge yellow-green with an orange-red border. In summer, leaves change to medium green, and by fall, colors range from yellow to orange and finishing in red. 'Koto maru' translates to 'rounded harp', referring to its unique, rounded center lobe on each leaf.

Koto maru Dwarf Japanese Maple is low maintenance and needs little pruning. It thrives in full sun to part shade in rich, fertile, slightly acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is an outstanding specimen that will give an exotic feel to your garden.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in a location with well-draining soil and full sun to partial shade. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize annually with a balanced fertilizer. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
