MAGNOLIA ACUMINATA
Grower Notes:

The Cucumber Magnolia is native to North America where it typically grows in moist soils along wooded areas. It is a deciduous Magnolia that features lightly fragrant, greenish-yellow, tulip-like flowers that are 2-4 inches long in late spring. It is named for its fruit - warty cucumber-like seed cones that follow the flowers. These seed cones mature to a showy, deep red in late summer.

The Cucumber Magnolia has green summer foliage that ages to bright yellow in fall. It is a straight-trunked tree that has furrowed, dark gray bark. It thrives in full sun in rich, moist, acidic soils.
