HYDRANGEA QUE QUEEN OF HEARTS
Grower Notes:

Hydrangea quercifolia 'Queen of Hearts' is commonly referred to as Queen of Hearts Oakleaf Hydrangea. It is a hybridization of oakleaf hydrangea cultivars: Hydrangea 'Snow Queen' x Hydrangea 'Pee Wee'. Queen of Hearts Hydrangea has the best of both and is noted for its large, upright, conical blooms which open white before aging to an attractive deep pink. Flowers appear approximately 7-10 days later than other oakleaf cultivars. Large, deeply-lobed, oak-shaped leaves are dark green and turn a showy mahogany red in fall. Mature stems exfoliate, revealing rich, dark reddish-brown which adds another attractive dimension to this four season Hydrangea.

Queen of Hearts is easily grown in filtered light in rich, organic, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Like other Oakleaf Hydrangeas, it needs to be pruned immediately after flowering as the flower buds are produced on second year wood. It benefits from being planted in a sheltered area.
