GROWER NOTES: >
Taxus cuspidata 'Capitata' is commonly referred to as Japanese Yew. It is a broad-columnar, pyramidal, slow-growing needled evergreen with rich, dark green foliage. Female plants may produce abundant berries that are attractive to birds and other wildlife.
The Japanese Yew is easy to grow and thrives in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade. It can tolerate shady conditions, but not poor drainage. It tolerates pruning/shearing well and it is best done in early spring, although it can be any time of the year. Protection from cold, harsh winds is beneficial.
