Aronia melanocarpa 'Autumn Magic' is commonly referred to as the Autumn Magic Black Chokeberry. It is a deciduous, suckering shrub that is native to swamps and bogs. It features clusters of fragrant, white flowers that bloom in May, followed by clusters of dark purple/black fruit which persist through the season and is attractive to birds and other wildlife. Berries are edible, but very bitter. They can be made into tasty jams and jellies.
Shiny, dark green foliage in summer changes to a beautiful display of red and purple in fall.
The Autumn Magic Chokeberry enjoys full to part sun in evenly moist, well-drained soils. For best fruit production, plant in full sun.
