Viburnum lentago 'UMN870517' is commonly referred to as HomeFree™ Lentago Viburnum. This improved selection of the native species from the University of Minnesota features an upright, spreading, multi-stemmed habit with improved resistance to powdery mildew. Its large clusters of crisp white flowers in spring are followed by showy, edible, royal blue fruit in fall. The glossy dark green leaves turn a showy hues of yellow, orange, red and purple in fall. Pollinators and birds are attracted to HomeFree™ and thankfully, deer usually leave it alone.
HomeFree™ Lentago Viburnum is quite adaptable, thriving in full sun to full shade. It enjoys both dry and moist soils and can be drought tolerant once established. It is tolerant of urban pollution and can thrive in city environments.
