GROWER NOTES:

The Bitternut Hickory is a large, broadly columnar, deciduous tree that grows to 50-80' tall. It has compound, light green leaves that turn yellow in fall. Female flowers give way to inedible round nuts when the tree reaches about 25 years old. While the nuts taste bitter to humans, the surrounding wildlife love them!

The Bitternut Hickory's bark is smooth when young. As it ages, it develops ridges and adds to its winter interest. This tall shade tree is perfect for large properties and parks.
