Sophora japonica 'Halka' is commonly referred to as Styphnolobium japonicum, Chinese Scholar Tree, Millstone™ Japanese Pagodatree or Millstone™ Pagoda Tree. This rare shade tree is a broadly oval to rounded deciduous tree with upsweeping branches and a symmetrical habit. It features lustrous dark green leaves composed with multiple leaflets and clusters of creamy white flowers in summer. Seed pods follow flowers in late summer. Foliage turns an attractive yellow color.

Millstone™ Japanese Pagoda Tree thrives in full sun in well-drained soils. It can tolerate urban pollution and can thrive in city environments. It is ideal as an accent or shade planting.
