LITTLE DOLL SPIDERWORT

Tradescantia 'Little Doll' is a charming dwarf cultivar of the popular Spiderwort, prized for its compact habit and refined, airy appearance. Unlike the standard, more sprawling species, 'Little Doll' reaches a modest height, making it an excellent choice for the front of a perennial border or even for containers. It produces delicate, pale blue to nearly white three-petaled flowers that contrast beautifully with its slender, arching green foliage. It blooms reliably throughout the late spring and summer, providing a consistent display of soft, cool color that serves as a perfect accent in mixed plantings without overwhelming its neighbors.

For optimal growth, 'Little Doll' prefers a location with part shade to full sun, though it benefits from afternoon protection in warmer climates to keep the foliage from looking tired. It thrives in consistently moist, fertile, and well-drained soil, and it is surprisingly adaptable to varying moisture levels, including slightly wetter areas that might cause other perennials to rot.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in a spot with part shade to full sun in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist. To keep the plant neat and encourage a potential second flush of blooms, cut the foliage back to a few inches above the ground once the initial flowering period begins to wane.
