RUDBECKIA HIR DENVER DAISY
Grower Notes:
Compact grower that produces gold blooms with rusty red centers all summer long. Hardy in Zone 5 with protection.
The main difference between Rudbeckia fulgida and Rudbeckia hirta is in its flower size. The hirta cultivars have fewer, but larger flowers. Also, the Rudbeckia hirta stands more upright than the R. fulgida. Most R. hirta cultivars require some kind of protection to survive cold winters. Many new plants will grow up from the seed that is dropped from the previous year. If you deadhead, you might reduce the chance of the plants making it through the winter.
