GROWER NOTES: >
Pinus contorta 'Spaan's Dwarf' is commonly referred to as Spaan's Dwarf Shore Pine. It is a dwarf, somewhat globose, evergreen selection with an open, upright-rounded, irregular branching habit that gives it a natural bonsai look. This slow grower provides a unique form and texture, perfect for rock gardens and as an unusual specimen in the landscape. After 10 years, it may only measure 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Its annual growth is 3-5 inches per year.
The Spaan's Dwarf Shore Pine prefers evenly moist, gravelly, sandy, well-drained soils. It is ideal for bonsai or as an accent plant in a conifer garden.
