Buxus x 'Glencoe' is commonly referred to as Chicagoland Green® Boxwood. This fast grower was chosen by the Chicago Botanic Garden for excellent cold hardiness in Chicago which is known for its brutal winters. Chicagoland Green® grows about 2-3 inches a year and features a semi-dwarf, dense, rounded habit and deep, glossy green foliage year round with a compact spreading habit. It resembles an English boxwood with a uniform habit.
Chicagoland Green® Boxwood thrives in full sun to partial shade in average, well-drained soils. It would benefit from protection from winter winds to reduce tip dieback.
