GROWER NOTES: >
Fothergilla gardenii 'Blue Hawaii' is commonly referred to as Blue Hawaii Fothergilla. It is noteworthy for its emerging green leaves in spring that mature to an attractive powder blue. Leaves retain a nice frosty blue hue throughout summer, maturing to shades of red and orange in fall. It has a compact, slow-growing, mounding habit that may produce suckers to form colonies.
Blue Hawaii Fothergilla thrives in full sun to part shade in moist, acidic, rich, well-drained soils. Best to avoid heavy soils. It is ideal as a specimen or accent plant. It has good shade tolerance and is a perfect companion to Rhododendrons.
