GROWER NOTES: >
Viburnum x carlcephalum is commonly referred to as Fragrant Snowball Viburnum or simply Fragrant Viburnum. It is a hybrid cross between Viburnum carlesii and Viburnum macrocephalum. It is a rounded, somewhat open deciduous shrub that is easy to grow. It features pink pea-like buds that open to fragrant, rounded snowball clusters of pink-tinged white flowers in early summer, later than other deciduous viburnums. Flowers are followed by clusters of red berries that ripen black. Heart-shaped, dark green leaves turn a showy red in fall.
Fragrant Snowball Viburnum thrives in full sun to partial shade in fertile, humus-rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils. When pruning, prune immediately after flowering. Ideal near windows, patios or any special spot where you can enjoy its beautiful blooms and intoxicating fragrance.
