GROWER NOTES: >
Acer palmatum 'Sharp's Pygmy' is commonly referred to as Sharp's Pygmy Japanese Maple. It is a slow-growing dwarf Japanese Maple that only grows 3-4 feet tall. It is one of the shortest Japanese Maples in commerce and is frequently used for bonsai. It features sharply cut green leaves that have a curve along the vein in spring and summer. In fall it has an attractive orange fall color.
Sharp's Pygmy Japanese Maples thrive as an understory tree with some protection from afternoon sun. It does best in moist, fertile, loamy, slightly acidic, well-drained soils.
