Acer palmatum 'Skeeter's Broom' is commonly referred to as Skeeter's Broom Japanese Maple. It is a small deciduous shrub with small, sharply lobed leaves that emerge red in spring and mature to purple through summer. It features attractive bright red fall color. It is easy to grow and a sport of Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood'.
Skeeter's Broom Japanese Maple has a narrow, upright form and thrives in full to part sun in rich, slightly acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soil. It is ideal for small gardens, containers or as a specimen plant.
