The darkest flowered of all the Buddleias, the 'Black Knight' is almost a black-violet.  It loves the sun and is a late starter in the spring.  Patience is rewarded as it will eventually get to be 4-6' tall with the same spread and be loaded with beautiful deep purple blooms throughout the summer.  Be sure to cut faded flowers off regularly to keep it blooming.  The top growth may die back over the winter in Zone 5, but no worries - it will come back the next growing season bigger and better than before!
