‘Low Down’ is a perennial sunflower cultivar that is basically a shorter version of Helianthus ‘First Light’. It produces a compact clump of foliage to only 12” tall by 16-20” wide. Foliage is covered in fall (September–October) with a profuse bloom of 2-2.5” diameter sunflowers with golden yellow rays and brown center disks. Narrow, hairy, linear leaves (to 3” long). Parents of this patented cultivar are unpatented H. salicifolia (willow-leaved sunflower) cultivars ‘Golden Pyramid’ and ‘Autumn Glory’. |
